Mostly for my own reference. In no particular order.
Safe Enough? A History of Nuclear Power and Accident Risk by Thomas R. Wellock
The Not So Big House: A Blueprint for the Way We Really Live by by Sarah Susanka
Cognitive Architecture. Designing for How We Respond to the Built Environment by Ann Sussman and Justin Hollander. Very cool book, except for the last chapter, where the authors try to argue that modernist architects suffered from PTSD and that modernist architecture is a reflection of their mental illness. That is just silly.
Get Your House Right: Architectural Elements to Use & Avoid by by Marianne Cusato et al. Catalog of classical architectural details explained.
Field notes on science & nature. This book is a collection of reproductions of some pages from field notebooks by several scientists, from Darwin to contemporary researchers. The book includes some essays that reflect on the use of field journals. I did not finish that one.
The book of why : the new science of cause and effect by Judea Pearl. This book didn't make an impression on me.
You can negotiate anything by Herb Cohen. Nice book about how to negotiate. It may have been original when it was first published. It is well known stuff now, but fine.
Making books : a guide to creating hand-crafted books by Simon Goode. About the physical process of bounding books.
Satellite orbits : models, methods, and applications by Oliver Montenbruck. This book becomes quite difficult quite fast. Not a casual lecture. You should be trying to program a simulation or doing exercises as you follow along. I should revisit this again when I have more time.
12 rules for life : an antidote for chaos by Jordan B. Peterson. This one was quite bad in my opinion.
Carrying the fire : an astronaut's journeys by Michael Collins. I have reviewed this one.
The checklist manifesto : how to get things right by Atul Gawande. Entertaining and makes a good point.
In an Uncertain World. Though Choices from Wall Street to Washington by Robert E. Rubin and Jacob Weisberg. I have reviewed this one too.
The Missing Billionaires: A Guide to Better Financial Decisions by Victor Haghani and James White. Good and actionable advice. I may write a review of this one.
